small port head on bigport...

Postby no_8wire » Wed Jan 18, 2006 10:14 pm

Would it work? Would I also so need to change the pistons or are they (small and large) the same compression? With the only difference being the ports?
Its just that I can get a cheap head ( no I didnt say get cheap head)...
off course I would need to get intake manifold, computer etc as well...

pistons are different. smallport is 10.4 compression, big port 9.4.
small port head is better, fit with a TRD gasket to raise compression ans away you go. or if you want buy some new small port pistions and use those.
if you want id even use silvertop rods.

Maybe.

I have one if you need one, i imagine it would run slightly better. I also have the injectors to go with it.

I think the small port uses a 4 wire CAS as oppose to the earlier 3 wire sensor?

small port also has knock sensor, but i guess thats no good for you unless you tap a hole for one.

Small port has oil squirters.

Might as well just get a complete smallport 8)

Smallport head is a waste of time unless you do smallport pistons to match.

Smallport head and pistons will be not worth it unless you run a smallport ECU to make the most of it.

Smallport ecu will be a waste of time unless unless you run the knock sensor,

and as said you need a late model block with the thread in it.
