not too sure on your exact model but,

Some cars are mechanical airbags which are not electrical and have no light.

There are no mechanical twin air bag models so if ther's two it must have a light.

Also SRS airbag is electrical, Airbag is not, depending on what's written on the steering wheel itself. If it has the letters SRS it will have a light.

The light will come on when the car is turned onto accessory, as long as the power has been off for more than 10 sec or so.

To test,

Turn the car off and tak the key out.
count to 10.
put the key in and turn it on.
Watch for the light.

Some vehicles can have mechanically triggered bags marked SRS.
Its just Supplimentary Restraint System.
Some vehicles fitted with pyrotechnic seatbelts only are still classified as having SRS, older Mercedes Benzs even have it marked on the buckles.
But every manufacturer is different.
If it is a mechanically triggered bag then it will have a system for locking the trigger that may be visible
If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks it needed replacing anyway!

The way to tell if your aur bag is electric or not is to look at how the horn is activated.
Mechanical airbag will have seperate horn buttons around the edge of the airbag cover.
If it is electrical the airbag will be the horn button.
Reason is if it's a mechanical you don't want to be pushing it around the steering wheel. Where as the electric airbag is connected via wire so it doesn't matter if you move it about relative to the steering wheel.

No.

Mechanical aribags are actually quite rare.
Most systems including single bags are electrical.
And correct on the buttons, the position does not mean a lot.

One possible explanation? Check the airbags even there. If you arnt the first owner of the car its possible (A longshot, but possible) Someone set the airbag off in a crash, minor or major whos to know, and didnt refit it properly or at all?

Just my 2 cents as i dont know much about airbags...

take off the covers under the steering column and look for yellow wiring.

OR send your chassis number to Mr Revhead and ask him to tell you.

I have a Mechanical Airbag, (Driver Airbag only, no light for airbag). How do I know if the thing even works if there is no test for it?

In fact, how do they work?
