custom strutbars..

Postby RS13 » Tue Jan 31, 2006 7:27 pm

If I wanted to custom make some strut bars (I refuse to pay $200 plus for a bit of tubing!), how would I go about it? Just make some plate up for the strut towers, and weld a bit of steel pipe between them? Are there any hints or tricks to it, any reason why most seem to use aluminium?

I got a dual 1" box section one made for mine, tooke an hour or so to do, then an hour or so to polish, then about 20 mins tops to put on, it looks sweet, and it's not that heavy(under 10kg), and does make the car feel "tighter".

You can pick up nice adjustable ali ones for under $70 brand new from a couple of places around here.

i accepted long ago mine was a whale, so it does need all the help it can get. (see pic - adjustable cusco strut brace)

Would be much cheaper and easier to make one yourself, just got to know how and have the tools.
I had vtax :(

Can't do until I find a cable for my phone, my digital camera is out of action, and I've lost my cable for my phone.

Have asked the place that made them for a few pics, will post if he sends some.
