I've always just run the wires straight to the ecu, be it with link, microtech, motec, haltech, wolf, autronic or any of the other's I done. I have however had to at time remove all but 4 teeth of the trigger wheel on some systems to get them to work properly. Motec, autronic, haltech are all software configurable with regards to ignition triggers. The others are slowly working on software configurable triggers but in the meantime the likes of link use an internal sub-board to convert the signals to basically one tooth per cylinder or similar, this is being phased out on the G2/G3 Link. I believe microtech uses a similar setup, I have no idea as I'm yet to pull an ecu apart but like Link if it needs a major reconfigure it's got to go back to them. I'm guessing the Link sub-board will basically be designed for use with their ecu & possibly wouldn't work standalone. You could always get one to try if they'll sell you one(which i doubt), I've only got nissan sub-boards. Else you could modify the triggers to get what you need either by changing to another trigger setup that is known to work or modify what you've got until it works. Failing that I'm sure someone on here has got the electronic know-how to make you what you need.
