In a pickle with pulleys

Postby Kov » Wed Feb 15, 2006 9:31 pm

I'm in the process of converting my GZE into a GTE, and found today that the waterpump is an inch or two out of line with the other pulleys

Now I bought the engine without the supercharger so I assume that the waterpump was driven by that, but my pickle is that I can't just run a larger belt from the other pulleys because of the offset position of it?

anyone know what I mean? Do I need to fabricate a spacer of some sort to relocate the waterpump inline with the other pulleys and run a larger belt or what? :?

EDIT: Or can I run the pulley setup from my 4AFE / an NA 4AGE

Water pump should line up with the crank and an idler. I ended up just getting a ribbed idler from the wreckers that would fit in place of the smooth one and found a belt that would fit. Seemed the easiest option but you may think of something better

The ilder is mounted to the supercharger bracket, so he is right, the easiest way would be to put the s/charger bracket back on, and replace the smooth ilder with a groved one so that the belt can run around it.

Or space out the water pump pulley, one idea made be to find a 3a motor that had a/c (maybe a ae85?) , as there water pumps had a double pully on them. The outer of the two of the pully should line up with the rest of the acces, then you can just get a big ass belt.

ilder = tensionser.

Thats why you put the s/c braket back on, so that you have the tensioner in place, but if you are going to loop the belt around it, you will need to get ahold of a groved wheel to replace the smooth one.
