4Age Silver Top Oil Pressure Sender

Postby Tru3no20v » Mon Feb 20, 2006 1:37 pm

Hey

Im installing somes guages into mt trueno, water temp for better accuracy, air fuel ratio, and oil pressure.

water temp and air fuel are easy, but i jst want to ask if any knows where the stock oil pressure sender is on a 4age Silvertop engine? I have a fair idea but not 100% percent

Also if anyone has put an autoguage oil pressure guage into a car or engine like mine r there any tricks to it?

Any help will be really appreciated,

cheers, dyl.

it is located under the braket off power steering pump.
You'll see yellow wire (in black heat shield) coming off stock pressure switch.
You will have to either remove it to connect the guage instead, or T it into with some fittings (prefferebly stainless steel, brass cracks).

You wont fit a T fitting and will have to shave some of the power steering bracket of to allow for the aftermarket oil sender. Good luck. Not an easy job.

Excuse my ignorance, but why not remote mount the t connector ?

What you mean remote mount? If you mean running a piece of hose elsewhere I say goodluck with that. I tried and tried and tried. Took me weeks to get my guage in.

Also brass T-fittings arnt that great apparently cos they actually break due to the pressure.

Also why would you want the "idiot" light on anyway. Whats the point if you are using a guage which shows the pressure. The light only turns on at about 20psi which is $&#$% all oil anyway.

I had a T with a hose (10cm), the guage was so unrelaible (one of those cheap repco ones with electronic sender) that I decided to revert to just stock "idiot" light. If you are not racing it and it does not take oil, there is no need for oil pressure guage.
Also don't use copper/brass lines supplied with guage, they break from vibration, same goes for brass fittings, they crack under vibration.
In my opinion light is better than the guage becuase, it is easier to notice it when driving than the gauge pointing to 0, especially if you have other guages.
