Sorry to bring this topic up again but It still makes a tapping sound. But I have narrowed it down to near the intake manifold and it sounds like maybe an injector or two is causing the sound. And when I touch the electrical plugs that I think are near or control the injectors I can feel a tapping in time with the noise so I believe this may be the problem.

Also, anyone know how to get sparkplugs out of a 5afe  They are really deep in and I'm not sure whether to use an extension bit or not. I am going to replace the plugs. Whats a good brand? Just the normal sparkplugs from the garage be ok? Do you need to adjust the sparkplug for best spark like you used to or is it already done for you now?

Sorry about all the questions but I am wanting to get my car running beautifully so I am reaplacing all the shiz that needs replacing.

injectors can get noisy, so its a possibility.
For plugs, you use a extension on your plug socket- the majority of twin cams require that now. if they have never been out, maybe give a spray of crc the night before, as any water which has run down there ever will have coroded them a little, making harder to remove.
just get some standard plugs- champion or whatever- if you look up in the book it will tell you the electrode gap, but 90% of the time for a engine like yours, they will be pre gaped and just require fitting.
while you are there, if you have a multimeter, test all the ignitions leads also to see if any are out of reccomended spec.

So would it be pretty easy to replace or clean the injectors to stop them tapping?

Thanks for your help man

Put a seperate post up about getting injectors cleaned if you cant find anything in search- I remember someone talking about getting theirs done a while ago...cant recall who- one of the regulars.
not something you can do yourself though (cleaning them that is). Also, depending on price to get done, it may be cheeper to try afew from pick a part or similar (correct ones of corse).
If you do the injectors remember to replace the o-rings- they are not meant to be reused and its not worth risking it since you would have to dissasemble it all if you do get a leak.

Cool thanks. Oh and I remember reading somewhere you had access to a 5afe. Would you be able to tell me the resistance of the leads. :D

Cheers man

and I searched for injector cleaning, found out its a lot cheaper then I imagined so I gotta have a ring round tomorrow.

off to work in my shirt n tie, so best I dont get under the car at the begining of the day, but
as an indication, max resistance between dizzy cap terminals (cap off) and sparkplug wire ~25,000 ohm (from 4age manual)
there is a more mathmatical equation which works on the length of each, but it escapes me. We used to change them at anything over ~15,000 in the shop when I was there.

I tried to test the leads but the multimeter said there was no current, is there a special way of testing them?

EDIT: I meant, it should just work if I stick the probe bits on each end touching metal yeah?

yea, take them off engine one at a time, make sure the prongs are touching- especially make sure on the plug side, as it can be harder to hold in position depending on prong type.
make sure mulitmeter is set to ohms & correct scale (what scale of ohm choice do you have on yours?).
you should get something. If you get nothing, touch the prongs together to make sure they are working.assuming they are, you would have a broken lead.

Finally got it working just before, don't know what happened the first time.

These are the readings I got.

1- 10.4 at 200K setting on multimeter
2- 9.6 @ 200K
3- 7.8 @ 200K
4- 6.8 @ 200K

Do these sound alright?

Also, when I get the injectors cleaned should I replace the fuel filter as well?
