shock lengths, gx71 / ae85 etc

Postby eightytrueno » Wed Mar 01, 2006 7:46 pm

ok so i have cut springs in the mark II, and its wof time.

the rears are still captive but the front are not

i'm on a stupidly small budget. i was wondering if anyone knows what shocks are about 2" shorter than the factory GX71 shocks, and i would be able to chuck in the front to ensure that the fronts become captive again? possibly ae85/6? or other toyota ones?

cheers

bit of a stupid idea to cut ya springs when ya have a wof due..

its probably cheaper and easier to buy new springs from a gx71 - as these are common as $&#$% to put in for the wof, then put your cutties back in if you have to.

im in the same stiuation, ae101 shocks are alot shorter, so are sw20 mr2 rears, this is what im doing with my mark II, you will have to shorten the hole strut tho, cutties are pretty shit, still make it ride like a boat just a lower one

Just rebuild the standard wet shocks with some ATF fluid or manual transmission or the likes, put some spacers over the shaft to restrict the stroke (pvc pipe/heater hose etc). Put em back together and tickety boo, no falling out springs and shocks that work
