this will sound odd, but can someone take a photo of their inlet manifold for me? mostly need to see the top of it.

i have an idea for an pretty exotic intake system, but dont have the inlet yet (getting one soon).

already been there (searched google thouroughly), doesnt show it in detail
also, on a FWD, is it relatively centered east/west, or offset to one side or another?

Do you need a pic of a FWD inlet? If you just need a pic of one on the ground i can take a good one I get home from tech, I have one lying around. Otherwise maybe check through the profiles.

Whats your idea youre thinkin of?

sweet, thatll be just fine
would still like to know where it sits relative to the engine bay. is it somewhat centered, or a little to the west?

basicly, chop the top off the throttle body, and direct air into it through a scoop
will have to think how to prevent rain getting in... might be as simple as reversing the orientation of the scoop. how do people usually go about stopping the rain getting in their air supply?
will also have to fab a new throttle mechanism.
its an extension of a previous idea of mine, this time for a 4age instead of a carb'd 2a

So let me get this straight, youre going to cut the top off the throttle body, get a scoop with a pipe from the scoop to the missing piece of throttle body, then turn the scoop backwards to stop rain getting in, and then fabricate a new throttle mechanism, to either put into your backwards scoop or your pipe?

I think youre getting inlet manifold mixed up with throttle body, and to me this idea seems like one of the worst and most difficult or all time, but hey I could be wrong

You cant just fabricate a throttle mechanism, theres more to it than just the flap. You could run quads and duct air into a plenum via a scoop, but that means aftermarket computer.

lol, thanks for making me look dumb.

its just something i thought of randomly, and wondered if it might work. seems useful for N/A applications, there wouldnt be any intake piping to restrict the airflow.

i guess im basicly thinking of the plenum that the quad tb's on a 20v feed off... but for 16v.

meh, bad idea i guess.
