4agte trouble

Postby willsf1 » Fri Mar 10, 2006 4:06 pm

Having trouble getting a stable idle and corect fueling thrugh the curve at the same time... Im got an aw11 AFM gze runing a td04(for now) evil si manifold, plenum, bluetop cams, ported head, standard fueling and computer to try keep it simple and many have told me that the afm with the standard setting should run it fine! Well it wouldnt idle so by adjusting the afm spring i somehow got 5-15hg vaccum but it bogs down around 4500 revs, mucked around with a 3sgte afm bogs down less but essentially the same probs. Any ideas?? Oh yeah i dont think there are any intake leaks...any suggestions appreciated!

Cheers

Are you using a blow through or suck through?

Well that will affect the flow characteristics of the engine adn will screw up the air flow readings, because now at a set rpm and boost pressure it will flow more air.

Are you going to blame the blow through? :P

Have a check of the cold idle setup as to why you have such low vacuum, the one on mine was toast (idle all over the place and massive vacuum leaks). I removed mine, blocked up the holes and tapped in a new line to bypass the throttle body with a solinoid in the line to let air past when cold, and shut when warm.

The afm is suck through following gmcrae similar turbo setup on his aw11. I have aslso taken off the idle control setup and blockd all the holes. Cam timing is sweet ignition is 7 degrees BTDC at 1000rpm... its really got me stumped
