reving power problem.

Postby slighty_sykotic » Mon Mar 20, 2006 2:21 pm

Hi,

Got a small problem with my 4agte.

Its an afm and dizzy gze running a td04 turbo on the stock ecu.

Its just started to "lose power" at a certain point in the rpm range.

When im on light throttle at around 2750 rpm it seems to lose power for a second, then regain it. It doesnt sound like its missing, just like i've let the throttle off and then back on.

I do not think it is boost related, as it seems to do it weather it has boost or not, just on light throttle. Foot flat seems to get through the rough patch without any losing of power.

Any ideas?

Its not the knock sensor, cause it hasnt got one..and I don't think the ecu would have any reason to pull the timing back at that rpm point.

New dizzy cap, spark plugs are "fairly" new, but they have a gap that is too big I think, were from my 20v, so possibly wrong kind? Any suggestions here? Leads shouldnt cause it to die at a certain point could it?

Umm, yeah, it only just started, so something has broken down.

Help would be great.

10psi,

and yes..it was my afm. The loom is short and the plug had worked it way half out... Pushed it in and it's all good.

But now I think the car has run a bearing...

Found yourself a membership subscription to my club huh?
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

No, I havn't yet...

I went inside and cried myself to sleep :(

This morning I had another look...and its another $&#$% exhaust gasket..... Thank god....

Its a tiny tiny hole, and it was going ticka ticka ticka like a bearing, but only under load.

Another of the shit paper gaskets.... Ordered a new one from toyota now, and hopefully its metal..or at least a better quailty.
