corona struts into ke35

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Wed Mar 22, 2006 4:55 pm

just wondering - what is involved in putting corona struts into a ke35?
I understand corona struts bolt into some ke's, but I don't know which.

so, unless its just unbolt everything and bolt it all straight back up + connect the brake lines, what are all the modifications I would be needing to do to fit these struts to a ke35?

cheers

What model corona are they from? they all have different strut/steering arm bolt spacing, and chances are your corona ones will only be 9.5" or 10" solid disk anyway.

Best way is to not make threads about it, go and unbolt your KE30 struts, and see how the corona ones fit(or dont fit). Theres so many different models, and so many people bothers cousins 'bolted in' sweet as, that doing it yourself is the only way to be sure.

cool, I don't know for sure what sort of corona these struts are out of and as the car they are going in to is a driven daily I don't want to pull it all apart for longer than I need to.
i've got another ke35 body lying around so I'll pull that to bits instead

will I need to change my master cylinder to a corona master or anything like that or can I just stick with all the original ke gear?

A KE30 master cylinder will be big enough for 10" single piston fronts, its not 100% ideal but does the job nicely, also depends on what youre running on the back also.

just an ae85 diff on the back.
the idea of putting these struts on isn't really to upgrade the brakes, but more so I can fit the damn mags on!! as long as it doesn't make my brakes worse than standard then i don't have a problem with it!

read update point 1 at the end, that's the way to do it.

I've tried the corona struts I've got and they do not fit onto a ke35. the top hats are too big and the bolt holes/locator holes at the bottom don't line up either.

basically I need to change the front struts to something that will allow my 4x114 FWD offset mags to to fit on the front without huge (uncertifiable) spacers. I can't change my mags as FWD offset only just fit on the back (unless I machine a bit off the inside of a RWD mag. advisable or not?)

are ae85 struts the same as ae86? how much would I be paying for a set of these? I'm hoping to do this with as little cost and modification as possible. would I be able to use my ke35 master cylinder with ae85/6 struts?

Get the wheel, and look from the back of it down the holes where the studs go through, measure how much of paralell steel youve got if that makes sense, as assuming you have enough steel running paralell to support the stud you can machine a bit off, arrow wheels do this for about $25 a rim.
