cheers guys,,,

well it came out alright. just couldn't put the hard line in the 'newer' hose. maybe get new hoses and then have a go you reckon?

could get a flaring kit and have a go at re-flaring the hardline also.

thanks for that... will have to look into it!

in the cases i have seen, it was the actual threaded fitting(not the tubing) that had become flared due to over tightening, one case resulted in a replacement T-piece and rigid lines. if you can get it separated, you might be able to slide it away from the tubing flare and file the ridge off it.

the tubing isnt the problem.

the hard line slid in the newer hose lines female connector no worries; the 'nut' (dont know what else to call it) from the hard line wouldnt actually fit in the newer hose lines' hole.

i did try filing it down but that didnt work.

had thought that the newer female connector had corrosion on the thread or something.. will have another look maybe this weekend.
