Where to buy alloy pulleys for 4AGE & 4AGE Pulley questi

Postby Stealer Of Souls » Wed Apr 19, 2006 9:15 am

First the question.
4AGE Crank pulleys. Assumably they're all the same? Did any come lighter from factory than others?

Second.
Anyone know where to buy aluminium 4AGE pulley sets? What are they worth? Do they make an appreciable difference?

Second: Nevo make alloy underdrive pulleys for the 4AGE. I have heard a rumour however that they have recently gone out of business. They were an Australian company. www.nevo.biz

As for making a difference, maybe go over to nzhondas and ask as they are more readily available for the B series engines. They are different engines but I'm sure that the benefits are similar.

Don't know if I'd be too keen running a crank pulley without a harmonic balancer though

Hope this helps..

This guy makes pulleys for 4ages.. single belt or double belt.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/show ... ber=144796

and

http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech ... lysis.html

a fair way down the page is analysis of all the different pulleys. supply the right measurements for your application to the man that makes the pulleys in the top URL and i'm sure he will be able to sort you out.

Nevo are no longer doing the underdrive pulleys. Only GZE overdrives...
So that link is going to be useful after all...

Firstly the intertia of the material is little. So a light weight pulley will have little effect on throttle response.
The most gain you will get from a custom crank pulley is undersizing it. I run a custom spun Nevo 20% underdrive (huge underdrive stunning piece of work) on the Bunderson to reduce frictional losses driving ancallaries, stop from damaging them by over rotating them, and also to reduce cavitation of the water pump at high RPM. It works wonderfully well and I have no problems with either cooling or charge at idle.
The answer is Helmholtz!
