Converting ae92 wagon gauges to corolla.

Postby SkunkWeRX » Sun May 07, 2006 5:25 pm

Hey guys i got me a 91 ae92wagon and i dont like the lack of rev gauge in the standard dash cluster so ive changed it for a different one out of the round about same year corolla sedan.its a full bolt in fit etc .just dont know how to hook the rev gauge up into my wagon which didnt have one with the old gauge set up if u get my drift....
.ive done it to my van before and hooked it up to the negative of the coil and it was all good. but in this wagon the coil looks like its built into the distributor or sumthing. theres a plug that comes out the side of the dissy with a cover on it which in pretty sure is meant for the rev guage.the question is where do i connect this to??? maybe the negative of the battery or something? someone must have done this before????
any help would be great
thanks:)

I think you should still have the tach signal going to the ECU if you check out a pinout diagram. There should also be a 'IG -' connection on your engine check plug that you can test it from.
