Doing any assembly/breakdown work yourself?, that will change prices a fair amount.

I haven't finished yet...
But the bill is currently sitting at $2400 ($1100 bottom end, $1000 head, $300 gaskets).
That includes me pulling the bottom end completely apart. Getting that tanked, balancing, measured and checked (blueprinting???), bearings (mains, bigends, and thrust washers).
Complete gasket set (thanks Revhead for the deal).
The head was a new casting (not included in price above). It was given a reasonable polish, all the valves faced, valve grind, cleaned up assembled (I'm not actual sure what else). Also includes the time to rip apart another head for all the necessary bits for the new head.

I don't think I've forgotten anything...

Exactly what Ae92typeX said, doing most of the work yourself will save on the $$'s big time.

Have just gone through a rebuild on a blue top & would guess its in the same ball park as Stealer Of Souls, could be a bit more, I havent added it all up at the moment but I def know it aint cheap & doesnt pay to cut corners either

As above, also depends how much you want done. I ended up surfacing head and block, valves and faces cut, overbored 0.5mm, bearings all around, balanced everything, tanking stuff, crank polish, gasket set etc and that would have been about a grand. Depends where you go and who you cab get cheap stuff done through

I've just had my 4age rebuilt with some goodies out at Glendene Engine Reconditioners.. I recommend them, so give them a bell for a quote. :)

Yep its good to know people in the industry and have some mechanical knowlege yaself. My rebuild cost me $1200 all i payed for was the parts and to get the block dipped and the bottom end assembled and balenced.

Can anyone tell me what a typical price for getting a 4age block skimmed and honed for a fresh set of rings is? Oh and tanked to clean the grimy lil bugger up too.
