W Series gearbox length

Postby beeker » Tue May 23, 2006 9:29 pm

Can someone tell me the length from the front of the gearbox (excluding bellhousing) to the centre of the gearstick for a "Mid Shifter" W55/7/8 series gearbox.

I googled it to be 508cm (20"), but someone else is telling me its 405cm ???

thx

"there are four possible stick positions: 457mm, 508mm, 533mm, and 546mm as measured from the front of the box (not front of bellhousing)"

Stolen from some other thread on here

405 sounds way to short.

Do a search, theres a website that has a big review of the entire W5* series.

Sizes look right compared to this website:

Not 100% sure they're right, but its a place to start

possibly is.

My box is in bits and counted all the teeth tonight to work out the ratio's
and it's the one listed as closest available.

Not close to my W57 at the mo, but this site http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/loats/tec ... boxes.html

Also has the measurements (be it in inches)

eds.au.com wrote: The Supras' shifter also came in 4 different locations:

The above transmissions feature a range of gearshift positions as standard. Measured from the front face of the transmission these are : 18, 20, 21, 21.5 inches.

18 Inches = 457.2 mm
20 Inches = 508 mm
21 Inches = 533.4 mm
21.5 Inches = 546.1mm
