This can be the case with many newer rwd's, so give that a go. Just be aware of the clearance of the back of the head, and any associated water pipes around there
And older ones too! anyone whos worked on a 1600 escort will know what i mean
It won't apply to the hilux of course, but often dropping the front (engine)crossmember down (and letting it hang a little on rack/pipes etc) will give the extra 20mm required.
Also revolving the gearbox so the starter bulge misses the tunnel can help (although Im not sure that this will help a 1uz)
