By no means do you have to buy big name gear, you can get the same results with no nane gear just as long as you are very careful as to who & how you build it. Pays to copy of a proven design like that of hks or apexi though.

actaully for exhausts i would stay as far away from those N1 style as i possibly could

often they are too loud and drone, and those bolt in silencers are just stupid, they can cause some real issues with power and fuel usage

There just different. The only reason more people dont like hondas is cos theyre 99% fwd, they put emphasis on the engine rather than the body, and they cram stuff in too tight.

We like toyotas cos theyre cheap, easy to work on, and mostly all well balanced packages.

The one thing i have noticed is how low you sit in a toyota seat compared to any other car out theyre, relative to the window sill - anyone noticed this? I love it

What proof do you have of this :?:
I have a N1 style system on my levin with the removable silencer & it doesn't make any difference to fuel economy. & as for power issues when its in it gives more back pressure hence you have more power/torque at low revs & resctrics at high revs & vice versa when removed. no issues there.

i can tell you that none of the top 4-5 group n cars in nz barely have a muffler let alone back pressure!!

do not confuse back pressure with exhaust pulse scavanging

SO if you're saying back pressure is bad then why do you tell people to fit super turbo style mufflers over N1 :?:
Those super turbos have heaps of back pressure/restriction compaired to a N1 so that would make the N1 much better :o

yeah... backpressure = urban myth

was useful in 2 stroke tuning, but don't know of many people running 2 stroke corollas on this forum... = none.

Getting the wave lengh, pressurery thingies right so that negative pressure is created at the time that the exhaust valves open may make a difference (which i think revhead called exhaust pulse scavanging). but the chances of getting that right without a rocket scientist working it out for you are nil.
