imo, which is just that, my opinion:
Dont get a fan controller. The position of the mini radiator makes the fan the only functional cooling source. I also would not put a resistor in it personally. The thermostat will control the temperature of the engine. it opens and closes with the water temperature. That is what regulates the temp, not the fan.
On the normal front mount layout the fan comes on when sitting in traffic or pushing the engine hard (or radiator is shagged) as the airflow does not provide adequate cooling flows alone. Up untill this point, the thermostat controls the water temp going through the engine. The fan comes on when the thermostat is wide open, but the radiator is still not cooling sufficently. In a mini you dont have the airflow, so the fan needs to be running constant.
