which has more availble parts for modification? and is better for working on as a project for making power?

there was an article in a recent zoom (cover car) which had a 180sx running a 3rz-fe (strange combination i know) putting out 700 ish horsepower. it had some serious money spent on it though i think.

i'd say you'd have an easier time over here working a 1uz because the parts and knowledge is readily available. the 3rz would be cool just because its different though.
