ahhhh its all making sense to me now :D .

how do u guys suggest that i block up the holes that need blocking up?

If you do not block them up air will b sucked in and it will not be measured by the Air Flow Meter, so yes, block the holes

ahh hell its been a long day haha

im yet to fit my can, but I would think have a peice of small pipe coming off it that is blocked up rather than blocking up the hole? (so you can return it to stock with some swapping of pipes if need be) You could use hose clamps to squash the ends, then adhesive of some strength to "block up the gaps"?

find a bolt that fits in hose nicely then tighten with a hose clip

well installed my catch can today, kinda rangi spec, might do it better with some more exact fitting hose/better hose clamps, but even after driving it for about an hour I reckon my ass dyno was returning a gain, it seems to run quite better, but could easily be placebo effect.
