NSW and ECT pins - 4age ecu

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Sun Aug 20, 2006 8:06 pm

hey, i've got what i think is an automatic 4age redtop ECU (manual ecu's won't have the NSW and ECT pins would they?).
this is wired up to a rwd 4age redtop with k50 box (manual obviously).

do they need to be "tricked" so all the appropriate stuff will receive power for the engine to run? if yes, what are the signals for these pins supposed to be??

NSW: does this need to be earthed out or something so the ECU thinks the car is in neutral/park? currently there is 12v coming OUT of this pin...?

ECT: do I need to provide a "false signal" to trick this pin? does it need to be earthed out for it to work how I want? or is there supposed to be 12v going into the ecu on this pin?

cheers.

in a 4age AW11 MR2 -

NSW is Neutral start switch (auto only models)

and ECT is 'ECT computer' whatever that is? and is only on Automatic models as well. (as you said hehe)

edit: i think most aw11's are bluetop?

ect is 'electronically controlled transmission' or something; im guessing similar to the neutral start switch.

ive got problems with another engine not having any spark now too; and am wondering if this could be anything to do with it.
