4age flywheel vs 4agze flywheel

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Fri Dec 29, 2006 11:07 pm

for a 4agte application, how important would it be to run the larger 4agze flywheel as opposed to the smaller bluetop flywheel or something?

at this stage i'm probably looking at running a modified 4a-t50 bellhousing with a w55 bolted up to it or something, so my only option would be to use a smaller flywheel to fit inside the t50 bellhousing.
it would mostly be used as a street vehicle, with the occasional track day and *ahem*skids*cough cough* .

is the extra few mm of surface area/grab really important or will i be fine with a bluetop flywheel and a heavy duty clutch? i can hopefully knock about $1g off the conversion cost if I can go down this path, so any input is appreciated!

cheers

I am running the 212mm Redtop clutch in my 7agte conversion...and all I am using clutch wise is a 3 puk and a very heavy P plate...

I would try find a 212mm one rather than a 200mm one though

20V are both 212mm also.
but not sure if pressure plates are all the same...
My experience says they are, but not 100% sure.

i kept my t50 so i went with a blacktop 20v flywheel on my bluetop,

fits into the bellhousing but only just, then you can use the AE111 clutch plates i ended up using a trd ae111 plate and cover and it works well but standard ae111 plates would still be good.

silver and blacktop flywheels same size i only went with the blacktop item as its roughly 1kg lighter so after some further skimming made a nice lighter rev happy option.

I would have to agree the black top is the (to me) better flywheel
go out and get yourself a black top flywheel and get a heavy duty clutchi.e TRD etc
