AE111 TRD Rear sway bars

Postby BZR4AGE » Thu Jan 11, 2007 4:13 pm

Hi there guys....
just a quick question, isn't all AE111 rear suspension setup the same regardless of superstrut or non superstrut? I thought only the fronts are different.

The thing is, i've just been overseas and bought a set of TRD front and rear sway bars. And i was bored so i looked around on the net, and the funny thing is on the TRD cataguloe online it states tht
Rear: (Except model after 97.4 with Super strut suspension)

Why after 97.4? does the facelift AE111 have different rear suspension setup to pre-facelift AE111?

The part number is 48830-AE051

becoz when i bought the stuff the shop person said they are all the same and ensure it will fit.........I am having my doubts now.

hi ace! i had a quick look its a bit different, but it does seem that it can be fitted as the curves on the TRD swaybar all have clearances......but it just funny how TRD stated that won't fit superstrut 97.4 and after......what about AE111 95+??? does it mean facelift AE111 superstrut has different rear suspension setup to pre-facelift AE111 superstrut rear?

before anyone start screaming, i do know superstrut is only at the front LOL 8)

Yes but I found with my ae101 that SS sway bars are 16mm and non SS are 14mm :?

I agree with Ace, and even if they are different then im sure you could make it fit :P

I think it will fit aslong as the mounting on the struts or chassis dont change... doubt they would to just for facelift, some bends may differ abit?

I hope it fits so i can do it all at once! as if u remember i still have the GAB adjustable to fit at the same time too LOL 8)

i did the rear swaybar in my ae92, was piss easy
if you have the tools (a socket set and axle stands) do it yourself
saves paying some monkey to do it for you at ~$60/hr

they changed the rear bar in the facelift change.
probably because the facelift one is close ot the specs of the TRD one, or the TRD one doesnt suit the different settings of the facelift suspension. but i reckon more the former

well well well, finally fitting my new suspension setup tomorrow.

Personally I reckon the red and blue will make a very happy couple underneath my car....just finger cross the TRD rear will fit fine! 8)

got those from a car importer who don't want to go through the cert process, the car done abt 45,000ks, so the coilovers are still in above average conditions (well in my opinion anyways).

GAB did make them for SS, they had two versions, the revolutionay stroke and revolutionary stroke II, but they stop making them like 2 years ago. So the only SS coilover available now are TRD, Tein, and Arogasta (EXPREMELY EXPENSIVE)

I was lucky, i got them for $1200 for mine.

Sorry for jumping in but do you need a cert if you are changing sway bars to say a whiteline one?

Presume they all bolt up to factory mounts.
