Brake booster pipe -> inlet manifold 4age

Postby no_8wire » Mon Jan 22, 2007 7:16 am

Is the pipe that connects onto the intake runner (furthest from throttle)
from the brake booster?
Does this pipe discharge into the manifold or take air from it?

(reason being I want to remove the connection to the manifold as its fouling the fuel rail and was just going to put a breather on the pipe...)

The brake booster uses vaccum.

So you definitely need it attached to have your brakes working properly.

But I will be running turbo so positive pressure...will this muck things up?

Or better to have it with a breather filter on it so it can draw its own air etc

You need vacuum there. If you disconnected and/or vent to air you will have rock hard brake pedal. It has got a check valve inline so boost pressure will not affect it.

it only draws vacume under decerlation so the turbo will be running down any way causeing you to have vacume

also if you vent to air it will run real lean & draw air under idle & when you boost it will let pressure out so will run ritch

if you do decide to ditch it just plug it but rembour you stoping distance will just about double unless you get a right leg about 3 times as big to get the same stoping distance
The faster you go the quicker you get there
