turbo fitment

ok this is a dumb as question but still has to be asked.

i have a TD04L which means the intake is on the pully side of my 4AGE which is a pain in the ass and a tangle of pipes etc.

heres the dumb bit... can i turn it round so the intake is on the gearbox side? or will it spool backwards or something dumb?

From what i know about turbo's it should not matter as long as the oil drain stays at the bottom.
