AE92 Fuel Warning Light

Postby gurutasker » Mon Feb 12, 2007 9:23 am

Just wondering if anyone had dealt with this before I go rummaging around trying to figure it out.

The amber 'Fuel Low Warning Light' is stuck on in my AE92 (With silvertop 4A-GE). However the needle still works perfect to what level of gas is in the tank. Is this light controlled by a simple float in the tank? or is something getting screwy?

its like a 'probe' in the tank rather than a float.
As far as i know, its some sort of filament which is cooled by the fuel.
I had this problem in the JZA70. took the level float and low indicator out, reinstalled and worked like it was supposed to...

dont know why it did... might have been a loose wire or something :o

I'm guessing you needed to drain the tank to do this? (Hopefully not drop the tank out aswell... cause i don't think i could be a$$ed doin that just for a light  )

It is also probably worth mentioning that it has only just started misbehaving. It has behaved itself ok for the previous three years, but then played silly buggers on Aaron as soon as he purchased the car off me.

you can access the float without removing tank from under the seat. You need to remove tank (in AE92) to get access to fuel pump (irrelevant in your case).

Ah.. so it's located next to the fuel pump under the rear seat? (which luck would have it isn't even there :D) In which case what may have happend is something has just knocked it a little loose or damaged it...
