How important?

Hey guys, can some one tell me how important the little sensor that sits in the stock air box of a gen3 3s-ge is? i have a new intake pipe but it doesnt have facilitys to use this sensor in it, what should i do? comprimise? or just drill into the nice new pipe

drill and use existing rubber grommet. It is an air temperature sensor.

i belive you can have it just sitting around the engine bay as long as its "near" the airbox.

thatll be the inlet air temp sensor....
so if its reading the hot air of the engine bay, itll give a slightly different reading.
