Toyota Vista VR - strange problem???

Postby Vista » Wed Mar 14, 2007 9:26 pm

Started my car after work, being a desiel, I have to wait for the coil to heat giving a beeping sound to turn the key (all the oil, coil, water etc dash lights on), well it beeps ok, turn the key, motor starts ok( all lights should go off), the funny thing, he oil, boost lights etc stay on, plus the buzzer that tells you the keys in the ignation when you open the door sounds - doesn't go off till I'm 1/2 way home.

Get home check all the fuses, reset the ECU, by disconnecting the battery, still no joy.

Thanks everyone in advance,

Duke

Sounds like some sort of an electrical problem with the dash...

im questioning an earth
or a warning device to say something is rong (a few cars do this for the likes of fans ect)

just a thort but

all these lights are normaly supplyed with power & use earth to trigger
the buzzer is normaly supplyed with power on both sides in its normal state
(+12v from the light switch & +12v from the on pission of the key) when the key is off how ever it shows ground same with the light switch how ever the buzzer wont buz if its showed ground on the light side hence this is how it works but if you were conecting the buzzer wire to the lights via a short the buzzer would go & so would the lights

so next time it douse it turn you lights to the opposit to what there at at the time & see what happens

yes its a long shot
The faster you go the quicker you get there

soarer 4.6L V8 twin turbo sold before i finished it fully
datson 1200 SSS coupe & GA60 soon to be 7M-GTE
doing up: MA61 5M-GZE-U with TAVAS ???

Yes a cheap alt fix by the sounds of it, but most of the pre 2000 diesil's can be done like that quite well.

And if you are wiating for it to beep before starting it you are waiting too long.
