Power Link Injector Controller, Know much about them?

Postby ae93_sx » Sun Mar 25, 2007 10:01 pm

Currently i'm running a turbo afm 4agze that begins to lean out at about 11psi. I've seen that a couple of you guys run Powerlink injector controllers to successfully run more boost.

How do you tune the injector controller? laptop? manual dials?
is it relatively easy to wire up? what signals does it intercept?
does it work via vacuum/boost?

What type of injectors are easiest to use? i picture using the normal 4age type as being hard to mount in place within the cooler piping.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Cool, I knew Bazda had one setup a while ago. I take it Brendan is the guy with the red GTZ, his is a nice setup, the one that gave me the idea actually :D

hello.

i sold my setup not too long ago actually, ran 20psi with 1 extra 750cc injector. i may know where a suitable 550 one is for you if he still has it.

it's really easy to tune, there are two manual adjustments on it. basically undo the four screws in the top cover, and you will see them, the one close to where the boost line goes in is the one that adjusts when the injector turns on. mine turned on at about 8-9psi somewhere from memory. and the otherone adjusts how much fuel out of the injector.

to wire it in there are like 5 or 6 wires i think. power and earth for the controller, earth with a resister inline for the injector, and need a constant 12v wire to the injector also. i advise getting something like a vr4 tacho interface so you can get a combined signal from both coil packs (so you can run the injector to as much as it can flow) instead of the I- on the diagnostics plug (tried that and injector only flowed abotu half as much, it also stole too much of a signal and made the rev counter go all funky). and then the wire left over goes to the output on the tacho interface.

runs off boost/vacuum signal from inlet manifold. i tapped it into my boost gauge line in the cabin (only if they same size, although link dont recommend it)

you will have to get an injector boss lathed up or somthing, then weld it to your intake pipe. i also beleive it can run a few injectors.

i managed to squeeze 5deg base timing into my motor, but i recommend you put it on the dyno before upping it to check for knocking, i suggest starting at 0deg initial. you could most likely run 0deg initial up to about 18psi, but YOU MUST CHECK THE AIR/FUEL RATIO while doing it.

umm thats all i can think of atm, as it's 10:30pm and i'm tired :D

hope that helps

thanks, great detail there! just out of interest, how much did you sell your setup for? i'm waiting for one to pop up on trademe for a good price.

The plan is to get it all setup and ready to run and then take it to a dyno for the actual tuning. I'll probably only run 15 or 16psi cause my turbo will be getting inefficient.

I'm a bit confused about the coil bit that you mentioned. Is that similar to when you put a 4agze in a corolla that originally had a dizzy and have to make up the little circuit for the tacho to run properly? I'll do a little more reading on this part before i go ahead ;)

not sure whats involved in the conversion but it does sound very similar.

Image

from memory,

wire the negative wires of each coil pack together, then connect to one (in) wire on the tacho interface, and join the other two ends together and connect to the other (in) wire on the interface. then connect the signal wire from the injector controller to the (out) wire on the tacho interface.

you get what i mean?

ps, photo below is what i mean where the fuel line straight off the filter. you will need to drill out the banjo bolt, and get a fitting brazed onto it.

If you want one, I have a unused power link controller.

I brought it new, and ive never used it. Still got it somewhere. (got a full link instead).

brendon, any idea where those wires go?

to me that picture has 3 wires exiting the interface, and 4 going to it? :?

yea i know, thats why yours is confusing

all 3 wires from the interface go to there respective places, but what is that green wire up to? or is it not related?

2 go to coils
1 goes to tacho
