Petrol/Diesel mix question

No im not wanting to mix my fuel

Got a call from my dad today, saying he filled his diesel car (ford telstar) with petrol. Ill be going to drain it tomorrow, just wondering a few things.

Do i have to empty absolutely everything? Or is it alright if theres a little left in it? Before i start it ill put a full fresh tank of diesel to dilute it (i have a big diesel container ill fill up)

Any other hints or tips would be great

Depends if he ran it with the diesel in it, or just realised his mistake at the pump and didn't start it..

Unfortunately he did run it a little bit, i dont think he drove too far because its sitting at one if his friends house. I think there was still a bit of diesel left in it tho (he was going to the airport).

Does this mean i have to replace the fuel filter, and maybe prime new diesel through?

Yup, after you've bled all the petrol out of the system.
