How to swap E58 electronic speed sensor to mechanical?

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Sat Apr 07, 2007 10:00 pm

I've got an E58 LSD gearbox from an ae101 with electronic speed sensor. Im putting it into my ae92 GTZ which has a mechanical one.

Problem is that the electronic one comes out in one piece including the internal gear etc... but with the mechanical one, only the end comes out..not the whole rear housing with the plastic gear etc.

How the feck do I get it out, I'm able to turn it by tapping with a hammer but just can't get it out!

Is there a trick to it? Like maybe it locks in, so have to turn to the right point?

Need to get this sorted so can get my new engine in!!

Cheers

the mechanical one comes out with the gear as well, twist and pull, it's only a rubber seal stopping it.

not sure about the ae101's,

i went thru the exact same thing gav. the elctronic one comes out easy.the mech one just the first part comes out and the rest gets stuck.

the mechanical one, i got a screwdriver/cold chisel and had to knock it around in circles until it loosened up enough that i could knock it outwards.
just be patient, and gently tap it round like you say, eventually it gets loose enough to tap it outwards. its a pain coz theres nothing to lever it outwards off.

it's just an o-ring holding it there guys lol just tap, once you break the seal (been there for so long) it should just slide out nicely
