Gtt Caldina Oil Leak From Turbo

Postby bubz » Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:02 pm

Hi all,I've taken off my intercooler and exhaust shield(don't know if thats the actual term) closely observed oil seeping from the bottom of the turbo. This is from where the two metal pipes are coming out from, underneath the turbo.Sorry don't know the actual terms.

It seeps all the way down to sump.I suspect sump is leaking as well.I have degreased it and will have another observation soon.

I got pics of it but don't know how to load it in the thread.

Would like to know how harmful are these leaks especially the one from turbo.I have parked the car and not driving it until it's fixed.

Any help will be much appreciated.

First attempt to tighten bolts if not

First buy new toyota gaskets remove oil feed pipe reasemble with nice clean surfaces

DO NOT USE SEALER on oil feed line

I've tighten the sump bolts but it's so hard to get down to to those bolts under the turbo.

What's the difference between sealer & gasket?

sealer is the goopy stuff that squashes out everywhere when you use it, a gasket is a peice of material, often metal, that is cut out to the shape of the surfaces it goes between. if you use sealer on the oil feed it *might* block the oil feed and your turbo will render itself useless very quickly.

Thanks for that explanation.Just one more thing,do I need to drain the oil before I remove the pipe?
