remote thermostat pipes

Postby ke36 » Tue Apr 17, 2007 7:05 pm

hey guys im putting an ae82 remote thermostat in another car (non toyota) and just have a couple of questions to ask

which of the two small pipes on the side are the sensor line for the thermostat and the heater line?

im not familiar with 4age motors so dont know what goes where etc in this picture

Image

obviously bottom pipe to bottom rad pipe and big top pipe goes to water pump

i assume the pipe coming from the rear of the engine is the heater outlet/return after its been in the cabin and the one exiting the front by the radiator top hose is the sensor line as it just goes to the thermostat but just want to make sure

also what temp do they open at?i assume somewhere around 80-85?

cheers guys

Look at my past posts - might help you work it out (pics of an AE92 fxgt).

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Hah - well done in the search department! A bag of Toyspeed brand chocolate fish will be in the post to you (as soon as we can convince someone to make them for us)... :)

Who votes that we make this thread a FAQ topic?

yea mate thatd be awesome, as many ways as i can se people have done it is good cos gives ideas to mount etc as mine will be going in a rwd car
also if you could work out which pipe is ur sensor pipe and which is just the heater pipe

as i said im 99% sure but dont wana risk it amd either have to re run the pipes etc or even worse cook an engine

we've done exact same setup as first pic in a fwd turned rwd 4age in a ke30.. mounted an ae82 remote thermostat under the intake pretty neatly. modded hot bypass line a little bit for better fit under the intake where hot water comes out of engine at the front and added a water line up to the throttle idle control wax valve. the heater line comes off back of head, thru the heater core and into the back of the thermostat.
