Wanted: info on swaybars for MA61/SA60/etc celica/carina/etc

Postby RomanV » Sun Apr 29, 2007 10:22 pm

As above.

My Carina has a swaybar to suit an 'a' series engine, which is different from ezy10s one, which is to suit a 2tg I think.
So I'm swapping with him, because his wont fit, and mine isnt going to fit with the 3SGE in there anyway.
This got me thinking, what do the swaybars look like for the celicas/carinas/etc that came with either an S series motor, or M series motor? Seeing as how the M series is a straight six, and the S series is... well an S series, perhaps the swaybar the cars with these engines might clear my 3S sump.

Does anyone have some pictures/info/etc about what the front swaybars look like, from these various models? Perhaps an MA45 narrowbody celica swaybar might be what I'm after. :D

thanks.

Dave - from memory cressida and supra front swaybars won't fit as they are a bit wider due to the slightly wider chassis rails of the widebody cars.
I'm pretty sure that all the carina front swaybars are the same shape and will bolt from/to any carina with A, S or T motor. I'm willing to be corrected.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Glenns carina has a 2tg swaybar, and I noticed that it's different to my 'A' swaybar.
So I said he could swap for mine, as it turns out that his doesnt fit so well with an 'a' motor.

So it got me thinking, I wonder if SA60/MA60s have a different swaybar again, which could possibly fit my car a bit better...

What about narrow body *A60 celicas, surely they dont have a wider body than the carina?

Ok
what do you want to do? Solve your swaybar vs altezza sump problem?
2TG? out of an early celica or corona?
Or is it out of his ex 3tgte carina?

Yep. So was wondering if any of the other types of swaybar are perhaps more suitable. If I could find one that would clear the sump, then I'll spend the money on a remote oil filter, instead of a custom swaybar. (As it'll still foul the oil filter)

Woops! I meant 3tgte. T series anyway. :P

Nah dont worry about taking it out on my account, a pic of it inside the engine bay would do! So I can see how it sits relative to the crossmember etc.
