the speed sensor wire that comes out of gen 1 gear boxes in turbo sw20 mr2s, can this be used to hook up a electric speedo...gen ones are cable driven but have speed sensor wire

Series 1 SW20 gear boxes don't have a speed sensor wire, it's mechanical only. Series 2 (Dec '91) was the first to get electronic speedo drive.

Are you sure you're not confusing the reverse switch with the speedo drive, or do you mean the wire going from the speedo to the ECU?

there are three wires coming out from the side of the cable unit....i asume its positive, negative an sender wire, i have gen 3 box in my car now an need to hook up a eletronic speedo, swappin of cable unit with the gen 3s electronic one doesnt work as the units them selfs are different in size....

Pics please, I've never seen any wires coming out of a SW20 gearbox that has cable driven speedo. I know for sure that my Series 1 SW20 does not have these wires you speak of

ill try to get piks......its got cruise control as well maybe its used for that....anyways the three wires come from the computer an go into the gear box through the cable unit the wires are located right next to the cable....
