Welding Turbo

Hay Im in the middle of putting a wastegate onto my girlfreinds GT starlet and I was wonder weather anyone can recomend where the best place to weld the standard wastegate is? I was planning on welding the flap in the outlet to the exsaust however thought I better confirm first, Alternatively I was goin to weld the rod the falp is on from the outside, Will put pics up tomorow If i have lost anyone, thanks

mines welded where the stock acutator used to hook up to to open/close it, jsut welded to the exhaust housing and it works fine

I just cut the standard actuator rod, threaded it, put a extra piece where i cut it, then i just wound it up so it bottomed out the rod in the diaphram, thus keeping the flap shut tight, and if u ever wana use the internal gate again or sell the turbo, wind the fitting on the actuator rod back so its not bottomed out.

you can get away with just tacking it shut on the outside, but the best way to do it is to tig the flap right round. as bazda said, theres no going back then tho.

Its only a ct9 so Im not overly phased if I have to buy a new one at some stage, cheers anyway will post a pic up wen its done so others can have an idea of what to do
