welding roll cages?

Anyone know what u have to get to be able to weld roll cages for your self not as in go into doing them for others. just i make caravan/motorhome chassi's and u dont got to be a certed welder for that but im going to get my ticket and if i need another ticket todo roll cages i would like to get that to.

My understanding is that anyone can weld/build a roll cage as long as its been manufactured and installed in accordance with the specified requirments New Zealand MotorSport sets.

Rick is correct. Just read the cage building bible part of the MSNZ rule book and PM Leon if you have any queries.

depending on your quals MSNZ may want to personally inspect the welds.

Yeah anybody can do.
i've just welded my rollcage in and i'm only an apprentice fitter and turner don't have any tickets or anything.
when i sent the homologation forms away MANZ sent back a letter asking me to get my welds checked out by a MANZ authorised certifier. did that and he just rang leon at MANZ saying he'd checked them out and they were all sweet.

I wouldnt let an un ticketed welder do my roll cage, especially an unticketed mig welder.

There are also construction techniques to weld fully around all joins. PM me and ill give you some pointers if you want 8)
