20v silvertop ecu on 4agte

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Sat Jun 09, 2007 7:37 pm

been doing alot of searching and all I can find is "20v silvertop ecus won't work on turbo 4ages"

but most of those comments were made 2 or 3 years ago. nowadays its common knowledge that you can turbo bluetops with stock ecu's if you adjust a few things. is this also the case if running a 20v silvertop ecu with AFM? im guessing you would only be able to run low boost though. engine has 4agze internals with raised fuel pressure.

not wanting a massive discussion / arguments, just wanting to know is it a similar process to turboing a stock bluetop ecu? hope this makes sense.

cheers.

Yes its the same as bluetop, meaning its dodgy as hell.

You can try to click the afm over to make it a bit richer.

But dude, seriously, if its running 4agze, throw a 2nd hand link at it and make some real power!. The timing of the sotkc ecu will kill it fast, or if you put it into diag mode, your going to run out of fuel fast, plus the fact that timing wont advance, so you will make shit all power. And i dunno if vvt works under diag mode.

Long story short, what you said at the start is correct. Don't do it. It will end in tears. Old bluetops are $50 easy, 4agze long blocks cost alot more.

I imagine you could but when the AFM reaches the end of it's travel you'll be in trouble.

Also silvertop is way higher compression than a bluetop,
and probably run a lot m ore advance too.

It will work, but probably not well and not for long.

its running a 2mm head gasket, not sure what that would make the compression though but obviously wouldnt be factory.

Whats factoy head gasket? It must be 1 or 1.5ish. So its not going to make much difference.

But that doesn't matter, because you said it had 4agze internals correct? So its low compression anyway. So really, the ecu isnt even suited to it BEFORE you turbo the car (due to low comp). I can't see it turning out very well.
