T50 gearbox recondition

Postby repowered » Tue Jun 19, 2007 8:42 pm

hey

need to get the bearings done on my T50 gearbox. It makes gravelly noises under deceleration (engine braking)

pretty sure its the bearings, a mate can do the job for me, he wants me to source the bearings though. get them through toyota? or anyone else?

cheers

try saeco. is it a 20 or 22 spline? 22 spline cost a heap more! I can get them for cost thru saeco, and its about $200+ difference between the two boxes when I priced it up.

is it kind of a "knocking" gravelly noise? im thinking it could be a similar problem I had with mine... is it still changing gears sweet? particularly 1st / 2nd?
what type of bellhousing are you using? ae86 or 3a? (if you don't know, what side is the clutch fork on?)

tis a 22 spline, clutch fork is on driver side.

um not really knocking noise more just noisy & gravelly, is a little bit hard to change gears.

my mechnaic freind told me different gearbox oils can make a difference to noise?, was noisy before i replaced gearbox oil but is getting worse, cant remeber grade.
