thats normal man. You will feel the vvt kicking in around 3500rpm. If you are crusing at around 4000rpm and floor it you will feel the vvt kicking in again at around 5200rpm.

could just be that peak torque is around 5200rpm..... vvt never really has a decent kick, its just there and works to make it faster than with no vvt

sorry mate, thats not correct.
VVT doesnt switch on at a set rpm, its tps switched (amoungst other factors)
basicly if the engine is half warm, anything over 1/4 throttle will switch it on.

i guess if you had an aftermarket ecu and set it to switch on at 4000rpm you would feel a kick, as it would be a bit flat untill then

Yea i did read somewhere that VVT doesn't work the same way as Vtec for example (i.e. it doesnt kick in at a certain rpm).

BUT I have a 5speed AE111 Trueno with a Blacktop engine and what i've said is from personal experience.

What your describing is just the way the power/tourque curve is. Nothing to do with the activation of VVT.

And I vote that the orginal poster ethier fronts up with proof, or this whole thread get deleted in tune with the no bullshit policy.

In this gys defence, My old AE111 BZ-V seemed to take off at about 5000rpm, seemed to have little or nothing before that so it kinda gave the impression that it kicked in at a certain rpm :wink:
