I wasn't being harsh, but the amount of time to respond is curious. If I had that kind of power out of a 20v I'd be quite keen to show off my dyno plot.

sorry mate, thats not correct.
VVT doesnt switch on at a set rpm, its tps switched (amoungst other factors)
basicly if the engine is half warm, anything over 1/4 throttle will switch it on.
i guess if you had an aftermarket ecu and set it to switch on at 4000rpm you would feel a kick, as it would be a bit flat untill then
