Turbo Tvis

Hey

Im not sure if i should hook up the TVIS relay up to the Supercharger indicator or the supercharger relay on the ECU

Im guessing it would be better to hook it up to the supercharger relay, but i already wired it up to the superchager indicator and cant really be bothered changing it as its a pretty big wire mess.

Just wondering if the relay would draw too much current for the supercharger indicator to handle. Im sure it would use more power than a little dash light.

And i presume the relay and indicator both operate at the same time, or is the supercharger relay the thing that engages the supercharger clutch?

the idea is for tvis to open up when the car sees boost.

Does the light on the dash come out of the ECU or somewhere else? Are you sure its 12V??

Comes from the ECU.

Doesnt the ECU just earth everything.

ie the bulb will be hooked up to +12V then the ECU will earth it when it wants it on.

Same as everything the ecu controls, earths it then its on.

Oh and crap, realised this should be in the tech section. Sorry, i should stop posting after my bed time

I think you'll find sometimes the SC light is on without the SC being on as they are switched separatly,

And i dont think switching the tvis off as soon as you see boost is the best way either.

Im wanting Tvis to switch on when i hit boost...

I thought the supercharger light would switch on when the car sees 0 manifold pressure hence activating the tvis relay and opening tvis up.

Ive never owned a GZE so i wouldn't know, but other cars with "turbo/supercharger" lights i have been in flick on when 0 map is achieved.

Are you saying when the TVIS relay gets earthed out TVIS is actually off, rather than on?

Also does it need vacuum to open up the butterfly's? Or does it have a vacuum canister.

Cheers
Simon.

I think the SC light comes on with a combination of TPS and MAF/MAP signal.
In my car the sc would engage before the light at about 5mmHg vacuum on the boost gauge, and the light comes on at just under 0. Also with the SC switched off the light still comes on when you floor it, not until about 2k rpm though.
When I was going to use a tvis manifold for my turbo setup I thought about putting the boost signal directly to the tvis actuator, maybe this could work with some fiddling?
