2zz-ge turbo selection

Postby barryogen » Wed Jun 27, 2007 10:27 am

Hi there guys,
I'm just planning things at the moment, but I've got to the point where I have my shopping list, minus the turbo.

So, I'll be aiming somewhere near the 300-350WHP, and I was wondering how the following would be suited to my engine...

T3/T4 turbo
.50 A/R with .63 5 bolt exhaust housing and 57 trim T04E compressor wheel. Intlet measures 2.00" and outlet 3.00", and seems to be rated at ~450HP at the crank, which should give me a bit of head room for the 350WHP goal.

I was originally looking at a GT28RS but it is rated at ~300HP(at the crank), which is below what would want to hit.

The 2zz-ge is a 1.8L VVTL-i, and the T3/T4 says it is suitable for most 2L.

The car will remain a daily driver, so too much waiting for spool isn't really wanted, but 5000RPM is fine, the car is boring below that in NA guise anyway, so waiting for spool till then wouldn't be too bad, but ideally ~3500-4000 would be better.

As always, willing to be shot down in flames if I'm way off on this.

Spoke to a few tuners, and they all seemed to think that it should be fine, and not laggy at all... they said it should top out at ~390-400WHP, which is more than I'm after.

i bet it's a miss print, would be a 3inch inlet and 2inch outlet on the compressor side. essentially same turbo as i'm running. and it's laggy on a 1600 but for an 1800 would be pretty good. also consider a turbo like bazda is running?
