Engine swap - Urgent help required!

Postby ADIKTD » Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:09 pm

Hi there,
As I am no expert on things such as engine conversions I was wondering if it was at all possible to put a 5afe engine ex 1996 Corolla into a 1992 corolla that used to have a 3E engine in it.

What would be required for this conversion please?

Would all the engine mounts line up or would there need to be some fabrication required?

Anything else I need to know regarding possible flaws I may encounter if I was to do this!?

Thanks in advance!

Is the 3E carb and the 5efe injected? - if so will need to sort out the fueling. Easiest to run an injected tank and lines.

Mounts between the series a & e are different, so will need mods there

Loom etc.

technically certed.

but yes, possible

Every mounting point in a 100 series is bolt in so you'd need all the mounts and mounting brackets from the 5AFE and it'll go straight in the hole using the gearbox from the 5AFE, the axles from the 3E should fit straight in - provided its manual to manual

they are different series of engine so I would assume the mounts would be slightly different.

Thanks for the help!
No worries... am just on a budget and the 5 was dirt cheap!

Not looking for performance etc, was just after a car to get me from A to B..

Will give up on that idea though!

Cheers!
