the only thing i would say against that...
is how fast are you wanting to go?
it may be a competitive class for auto cross etc...
but if your doing track days etc if will feel awfully slow....

But seriously after what I have seen at gravel hill climbs, rallys (all gravel events btw) these cars work flawlessly. Yes they are slow powerwise but the are so smooth and easy to drive which I think is their big bonus. Even read a story in our club magazine of one mixing it up with the big 4wd turbo evos/subs.

Oh if you were wanting to do circuit in one it would be poo. However they do have circuit classes for small cars. I cant remember any specific ones but I have talked to some drivers who race in these classes in circuits. In that respect too I would hardly consider a 4age a decent track weapon either.

One person in our club has a fwd starlet (the old box model) with an echo motor transplanted, damn that thing flys.

Anyway I rest my case, anyone else wana have a stab at teh mightly 1300cc should come to one of our next events

Back on topic, I think you should stick with the FXGT since you already have the car running with a silvertop in it. I thought that was your daily driver though?

yeah there's not really much starlet left there, i think that particular one might have had a 4AGTE in it and was soon to be getting 3SGTE

I will stick with my earlier suggestion of the Starlet GT, other than the fact you end up in a funny class if it is by cc rating (1331 x 1.7 turbo= 2263cc) they're very light, which is awesome for autocrossing, you can get a lot of power out of them.

The FX is a good car, but it's about the same power as the Starlet factory, but weighs 200kg+ more, and you have to spend a massive amount for good power gains.

Plus, DEXGT always kicked my arse in his Starlet GT's when I had my Corolla GT

The one in the picture isn't an EP71.
EP71's can be made to go very well and we certainly embarrassed a few 4WD turbo competitors in our one.
But they really do need the 4.8 CW&P and the close gearbox is also a huge bonus. LSD too. None of these parts are any longer available from TRD.

With the right bellhousing/casing a C52 box can be bolted to 2E so this may help.

Engine wise they need about 14 to 1 compression to make them work well.
Once again TRD head gaskets and pistons are no longer available.
There are other brands and in fact we made our own high comp pistons and head gaskets - but they're not as good.

It must be remembered that small engines cost more to perculating.

A good fun car that's cheap to buy, but very limited in available parts and expensive to increase performance.

My recommendation would be the AE92 or perhaps a Suzuki Swift DOHC.
