SW20 Factory Airbox

Postby solitaire » Tue Jul 24, 2007 6:39 pm

Hi.

Does anyone know if there are any sensors plugged into the factory airbox on a Gen1 Turbo SW20?

When i bought the car it just had a $30 supercheap pod hanging off the afm (now K&N) ... im concerned this is not ideal... OPinions are apreciated :D

I know the N/A's have a temp sensor, but they're MAP, not AFM, so turbo might not have that in them
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Been doing some searching and the consensus seems to be that pods hanging off the afm are a fecking bad idea... which could explain why the thing runs fairly lean in comparision to other dyno plots i have seen... (af 11.5>12ish)

I did get a diagnostic error about the air temp sensor... but it has not come back since i cleared the ecu

I tore mine out, bloody huge pain in the bum took up more space then you could poke a stick out as well....
I replaced it with a pod (out with the factory air box and on with the pod) and it worked perfectly fine, even ran a bit better.....
Maybe just the cheap pod not letting enough air through??

yeah I had an adapter that mounted it straight to the AFM.
I made up a braket though that held it up so the AFM was in it original place so the AFM was sitting flatish, only cause I wasn't to sure lying on it's side was a good thing.

MR2SIK has it now, not to sure if he's kept the same setup but you could ask him and ask for a photo??

Edit: Just remembered Sean's got a Link setup now so unless he's got some old photo's of the engine bay you might be out of luck....
