Wheel studs too short for new mags

Subject says it all.

Basically the rims I have just purchased ar 17x7j 40p 4x100. Far as I could tell perfect fit for my car. Turns out they are... if I had longer studs. Is there a way to legally fix this? The nuts I currently have won't fit down the stud holes (nuts are too fat) and won't thread on the studs (too short).

Can I fix this by replacing the studs?

Can I buy nuts that are designed to fit down the inside of the stud holes to thread on the studs?

ANY and I do mean ANY help is appreciated.

Live in hamilton, so if anyone works at a mag/tyre shop and can "hook me up" with a fix all the better.

You will need nuts that fit down the holes. The nut needs to seat in the designed location, so you'll need them regardless of stud length. The studs you have may even be long enough.
I had one set of mags that needed skinny nuts. You can by them from any mag/tyre store, they also have a special tool to do them up (as even a scoket wouldn't fit down the holes.) Cost me around $40 from memory.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

i bought some "spline drive" nuts from mag and turbo, they're really skinny and also good cos you can't just undo them with a normal tool = slightly harder to steal the wheels. they were $80 for 20 nuts and the tool.

OK. So update. Bought some mag nuts. Turns out NOT the right size. Left front wheel decided to jump a fence... car was not attached to the wheel at that point. So... gonna go into Mag & Turbo or Top Town tomorrow night. Hopefully can get ones that fit properly.

no damage to the wheel i take it?

how much of the stud thread is showing?.... when the wheel is firmly on the hub how much of the stud can the nut access

Might have to bite the bullet and fork out for longer studs, they're about $9 dollars each with a nut.

i was toldby a certifyer wheelnuts must do 6 (or was it 7?) full rotations when your tightning them
the faster u go, the quicker u get there

Wheel is fine. Very well balanced. Found the perfect test. Lose a wheel going round a corner. Watch it hit a kerb, bounce over a 6 foot fence and then roll 25m in a straight line and hit a fence at the other end of the field. I think thats a sign of a well balanced tyre. I did however bend the brake gaurd onto the discs and ground the steering arm mount a bit but no major damage.

do that (or make sure you have 6+ turns before torqued)and double check with mag shop you have the correct nuts for your mags.
