hiace & hilux axle lengths

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Mon Jul 30, 2007 9:13 pm

has anyone got the lengths of the above axles available? I would imagine they vary from model to model, so just after any info possible.
I know the hiace axles are shorter than hilux, but all axles are interchangable with the diff heads - only issue being the difference in length.

main thing I want to know is how much shorter the hiace axles are compared to hilux axles. if someone has either of these axles sitting around they could measure it'd be cool.

cheers

from memory the very early hilux's were 1370 drum to drum and the later ones were 1450 (not 100% sure but its around there). there's a couple of threads on toymods that cover this if you want to have a look over there. the early ones don't really need to be shortened to run in early rwd toyota's which makes them pretty popular, you still can't run low offset wheels though so no deep dish stuff. they're pretty hard to find too.

And if your lucky you will find that some of the diesel hiace came with standard lsds, mostly behind the auto versions of it but they quite a low ratio 4.1 i think so good for circuit or other race type work, not so good for road tho.
