gtt staying cold when on open road

Postby ozzy » Mon Aug 06, 2007 3:04 pm

i have only had my gtt for about a week, its tiptronic. i have noticed that on cold nights or mornings car warms up fine around town (temp gauge at half) but as soon as i hit the open road it cools right off and the gauge shows is off the bottom of scale shwoing car is cold.

yesterday because of this trans would not let me go into 4th so had to drive slowly as 100kph in 3rd is about 5 thousand revs nt good.

has any one had this problem? i have talked to another gtt owner who says it takes ahile for his top gear to be able to be used but his temp never drops on open road.

could this be thermostat

thanks in advance for any answers

My money is on the thermostat, must be jammed open. Had the same thing on my old st185.

How many km's your car done? You use proper coolant?

Had the same on my old curren, therm gone meant that on open road it would run cold, and also run really rich.
